Scrappers will know what I mean... I've had this page in my head for the better part of 8 months... once I realized that I was keeping up with the weekly photo thing, I started contemplating how I'd scrap them all... I may keep this basic layout up for *each* year as long as I pull off the Thursday photos... they might make cool divider pages in his scrapbook! The second picture here is uploaded at full resolution, so if you click on it, you'll see it huge and can see each photo better... I'd like to scan the pages themselves to post here, but I haven't gotten around to it, and want to get these all posted! Maybe later... until then, these will have to do!
And then in a different crafty category, I made my first piece of clothing for myself last night! I've been wanting to tackle stretchy knits for some time; it'll be a cinch to make comfy pants for Max now! I picked up this New Look pattern 6648 and a chunk of fabric last time I could get both on sale at Joanns; the pattern was $3, and the fabric was about the same, since knits were 1/2 price that day and I only need 1.125 yards.
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out, considering I had to alter the pattern due to my inability to sew a gathered hem (I understand the concept with the basting stiches and all, I just can't get the mechanics of it down and get it to work! I need to practice more!) so my waistband is wider than the original, and I wish I'd paid more attention to the reviewers at Pattern Review and had sized down the neckhole, but overall, it's a comfortable, nice looking garment and I got several compliements on it, even before anyone knew I'd made it!
I think I'm going to attempt buttonholes next, since I'm finding myself drawn to cute little blouse patterns, and I'd love to make one! Any tips from more experienced sewers for buttonholes? I'm a little skeered!
